Cops, Kids Join in Charity Drive

Darien Police and kids in the "Cops & Kids Adventures" group are hoping you'll donate some basic household items for the town Department of Social Services.

The Darien Police Department recently issued the following news release:

The “Cops & Kids Adventures” group will be conducting a charity drive over the next couple weeks.

This group of 19 youths (11-15 years old) and 10 Darien police officers was organized through a Juvenile Justice grant in order to combine Darien youths and police officers in several community-outreach programs and fun adventures over the course of the 2011-2012 school year.

Our intention with this charity drive is to collect needed household items for donating to Darien’s Department of Social Services, which is in need of the following items:  paper towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, laundry soap, dryer sheets, hand pump soap, bath soap, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, bath room spray cleaner, kitchen spray cleaner, and Windex.

Donation boxes, colorfully designed by these youth and police officers, have been placed at the Darien Police Department, Town Hall, Library, High School, and Middlesex Middle School.  Persons wishing to assist with this charity drive are encouraged to place donations in one of these boxes.

Please help us to make this charity drive successful for the benefit of the Darien’s Department of Social Services.

For further information on this group or the charity drive please contact Janice Marzano at the Depot, Detective Mark Cappelli or Motor Officer Court Isaac at the Darien Police Dept.
