Darien Scores and Standings, July 18

UPDATES

• Little League: Wilton defeated Darien National 12-3 Sunday in the finals of the 11-year-old District One baseball tournament.

• Babe Ruth: The Darien 13-year-old Babe Ruth team remains on a roll.

Craig Miller had three hits, scored three runs, and drove in five as Darien routed host Ridgefield 15-1 Sunday to advance to the winner's bracket final in the state tournament.

Stephen Barston added three RBI for Darien, which will face New Milford on Tuesday (5.30 p.m.). Sunday's contest was stopped after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

Andrew Enzor, Jake Frasca, Jamie Schofield and Tyler Costantino each had RBI for Darien while Mike O'Malley, Drew Costantino, and Enzo Stefanoni contributed hits.

On the mound, Stephen Barston scattered five hits over four innings with no walks and two strikeouts. Frasca pitched the final inning.

• Swimming: On Thursday, the Newfield Seals — including Darien's Colin Donovan and William Smelser — took on Innis Arden Club (Greenwich) in a home meet.

Newfield's boys relay team of Donovan (14 & U), Smelser (17 & U), Ben Feldman (10 & U), and Nick Handali (12 & U) broke a pool record that had stood since 1972, posting a time of 2:30.94.
