Coming off a frustrating 4-3 overtime loss to South Windsor, the Darien High School boys hockey team concludes its FCIAC regular-season schedule on Wednesday against Fairfied (2 p.m., Darien Ice Rink).

With a win, the Blue Wave (13-5, 10-1) will clinch the top seed for the tier one playoffs that begin this weekend.

Ridgefield concluded conference play at 11-1, but Darien would own the tiebreaker advantage based on a 4-2 win over the Tigers.

The FCIAC girls hockey playoffs begin Wednesday with the semifinals at the Darien Ice Rink.

In the opener, No. 2 seed Ridgefield (13-5-1) takes on third-seeded Greenwich (12-5-1) at 6 p.m. before top seed New Canaan (19-1) meets No. 4 Darien (11-6-1) at 8 p.m. The final is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford.

During the regular season, Darien lost to New Caaan twice -- 7-2 on Jan. 27 and 4-1 on Saturday. The second game, as the score would suggest, was more competitive.
