In the week leading up to Valentine's Day, we'll bring you seven simple sweets and treats for Valentine's Day; that's one love-bite for every day of the week.
For all of you romantics with an appetite for love, here are my top seven local picks to set the mood:
Love Bite #3
Are you a sucker for romance? One lick of Suckerborne's latest, and you might well be.
The Darien-based lollipop company has added Cupid Cherry to its lineup of sophisticated suckers; it's a love bite we cannot resist.
Suckerborne is not your average candy-company. Pops are geared to an older crowd, and many come spiked with a generous kick of alcohol. The booze burns off, but the flavor lingers. It's an adult twist on a playful classic that owner and creative director Megan Ferrel has mastered.
"It sounds cheesy to say, but people smile when they put a lolly in their mouth," she said.
This round of hard candy is all-natural (as are all Suckerborne sweets), alcohol-free and "everyone friendly," said Ferrel. Each pale pink and heart-shaped lollipop hugs a classic conversation heart. Sayings run the gamut: TWEET ME, I LOVE YOU, CRAZY 4 U, WINK WINK, to name but a few. Play the wild card, or make a request when placing your order, just add your special slogan to the comment box.
Present one of these Cupid Cherry suckers to your significant other, and get ready for some serious tongue action.
