Perps Pilfer Ping-pong from Patio.com!

Greenwich Police are probing the purloining of a ping-pong table from an outdoor display at a Patio.com store on East Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob. Precious? Perhaps, but police provided no price to reporters.

Westport police arrested two New York men Tuesday after receving a shoplifting complaint from CVS. When police located the two men nearby, approximately $5,000 worth of merchandise was recovered. The merchandise consisted of teeth whitener, hair growth treatment, razor blades and allergy medicines.

An 18-year-old Wilton man was arrested for driving intoxicated and for stealing two mailboxes--both of which were found in the back of his truck. Police believe there might be some internal sports feud going on at Wilton High School which led to the vandalism.

A Fairfield man, whose friends dropped him off late in the night in a neighborhood he didn’t know, was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. He approached a stranger’s home and told the homeowner he was “lost and scared.” The police were promptly called and the man arrested.

In Greenwich, police arrested a woman for allegedly slapping a man in the waiting room of the hospital.

A Greenwich man apparently trying to sell marijuana to two others was mugged during a botched drug deal that resulted with larceny charges for his “clients” and drugs charges for him.

A street brawl at a Stamford Dunkin' Donuts led to a single arrest this week. The suspect is said to have fled as police patrolled the area, led them in a brief chase, and later surrendered.

Norwalk Police said they Tasered a man after he stopping him for leaving the scene of a car accident. The accused reportedly had struck a utility pole, then tried to walk away from police, snapped a “lawn lamp” and “made a menacing pose” before trying to run away.

A Darien police officer patrolling just before midnight on Nov. 25 found a car stopped in the middle of a roadway. Police Capt. Frederick Komm gave the following account of the incident:

The officer honked the patrol car's horn a couple of times. The driver didn't move. The officer turned on the patrol car's overhead lights. For a while, the driver still didn't move.

Eventually, the 29-year-old Darien woman driving the car moved it to the side of the road. After a field sobriety test, she was charged with driving while intoxicated.
