Raptors at the Library, Registration at YMCAs

Kids (Kindergarten through Grade 5) can see raptors at Darien Library; registration has started at the Darien and New Canaan YMCAs; and the French film "Augustine" is shown at the Avon Theater.

Here's what to know and where to go in and around Darien for Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013:

The Connecticut Audubon Society will bring live raptors to Darien Library at 4 p.m. Wednesday to teach kids (Kindergarten through Grade 5) about raptors and the role they play in ecosystems. Space is limited: Tickets will be distributed 15 minutes before the program, so get there early.


The French movie "Augustine" is being shown at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Avon Theater in Stamford. Sponsored by Alliance Française of Greenwich, the unrated film is in French with English subtitles. Registration is beginning this week at the Darien YMCA. Check out this announcement for details.

Also: Be aware: ""Beginning Aug. 9 some of the Darien Y facilities will be closed for our annual maintenance," the Darien YMCA has announced in an email to members.

Registration for Fall 2013 programs at the New Canaan YMCA also began Monday. You can register online or in-person. Check out the brochure here. Programs run from Sept. 4 to Nov. 26.
