Darien Community Association Meadowlands' Hidden Gem

DCA Meadowlands' tastefully decorated rooms and lovely garden and grounds are a great place to stage a celebration. It's just another beautiful asset that makes our town so special.

I want to write a quick comment/compliment to the .  I have always associated the DCA with providing philanthropy and useful services to the Darien community such as the Garden Club’s plant sale, Mom’s Morning In, or meeting places for cotillion classes or boards of town sports.   This past weekend, however, I attended the DCA’s Spring in the Garden Cocktail Party and was amazed and surprised by the hidden gem of their gardens in their back courtyard.    The whole time I was enjoying my cocktails, I couldn’t help thinking about what a fantastic location it is for a festive celebration.

The DCA operates out of the Meadowlands which is a very lovely, historic home listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The property encompasses nearly eight acres and features nature trails, a greenhouse, a bird sanctuary, as well as, an beautiful formal enclosed garden.  This garden was designed by one of the first female American Landscape Architects Ellen Biddle Shipman.   DCA volunteers maintain the garden and care for the house.

So if you are considering various places in town to throw a party, you should definitely check out DCA Meadowlands’ tastefully decorated rooms and lovely garden and grounds.  It’s just another beautiful asset that makes our town so special.
