Perhaps Something Classical for Valentines Day…

The Emerson String Quartet's performance at the Palace Theatre in Stamford provides a great way to celebrate the love of classical music and Valentines Day.

It is February.  The month best known for two holidays: 1) Presidents’ Day, which provides an always welcomed three day weekend, and 2) the Hallmark Card Holiday otherwise known as Valentines Day.   While many of us are eagerly looking forward to hitting the ski slopes for Presidents’ Day weekend, few of us are eagerly looking forward to finding innovative ways to celebrate Valentines Day.

Don’t despair (not that you really would).   My friend Gina Ely, who is the Director of Marketing and Communications for The Stamford Symphony, has told me that they are offering a classical celebration of Valentines Day this year.  The Emerson String Quartet will be performing on February 11th at 8pm at the Palace Theatre in Stamford.  This amazing string quartet has an incomparable list of achievements over the last three decades:  nine Grammy Awards (including an unprecedented two for Best Classical Album), three Gramaphone Awards, and the highly coveted Avery Fisher Prize.  The Emerson String Quartet has also collaborated in concerts and recordings with some of the greatest artist of our time.

Dinner at one of Darien's or Stamford’s great restaurants and the Emerson String Quartet sounds like a great way to celebrate the love of classical music and Valentines Day.   Go to www.stamfordsymphony.org for additional concert details or to purchase tickets.
