Middlesex Teacher Rosemary Cellini Remembered With Art Scholarship

A scholarship fund was established in Rosemary Cellini's name to recognize students who share her passion for art.

Earlier this year, Middlesex Middle School art teacher Rosemary Cellini passed away unexpectedly.  Ms. Cellini loved the arts.  A scholarship fund was established in her honor at the New Canaan Community Foundation to recognize students who share her passion.  Middlesex 7th and 8th grade students were encouraged to apply for scholarship awards to participate in arts programs and activities such as enrolling in studio art classes, attending musical education classes, or purchasing art materials to create original art.  Students explained why they love the arts and why they think the arts are an important part of education.  All applications were reviewed by the art faculty at Middlesex Middle School who were Ms. Cellini’s peers.  They selected the winners in this effort to honor the memory of a teacher who touched many lives with her creative spirit and passion for teaching.

This year's scholarship winners:  Back Row (l-r): Jeanne Kaye-Eleck (MMS Art Teacher), Carol Warner (MMS Art Teacher) Grace Drugge, Olivia Fordyce, Alex Adelman,  Jana Powers  Front Row (l-r): Justin Mossa, Sara Moorhead, Olivia Srednicka, Dorothy McClure (MMS Art Teacher) Debi Boccanfuso (Principal MMS), Not Shown is Rebecca Stern, MMS Art Teacher.
