The JR walk is coming up on October 14th, and we would like to encourage the community to attend the walk, and let them know what the funds we raise are used for.
We are very proud to put the money that we raise, right here in our community. Each year we choose one entity in town that we will give a portion of the walk's proceeds to, and we have a second fund called "JR's Ray of Hope" that we use to aid local families who may be experiencing serious illness, injury or death of a family member.
We have also used that fund for the past 2 years to contribute to needed medical supplies in the Darien Schools that will benefit all of our our school aged children.
Below is a list of all of the items that we have purchased for the schools.
The 1.5-mile walk will take place on Sunday, October 14, 2012, in honor of JR’s birthday. Last year’s event raised a total of $15,000 for Darien Little League Challenger Program and JR’s Ray of Hope.
This year the money will be donated to the library and again we hope to grow JR's Ray of Hope in order to better allow us to give back to the community.
