Darien Rowers Win at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta

Norwalk River Rowing’s racing team had a very successful showing in the Head of the Riverfront Rowing Regatta this past weekend in Hartford, CT winning nine medals including a first place finish by Darien High School’s Charlie Cragin and Will Kauffman who competed in the Men’s Jr. Novice 4x.   

The Head of the Riverfront Rowing Regatta was a daylong event featuring races from youth rowing teams such as Norwalk River Rowing, college teams, post college athletes, and Master Rowers.

Overall, Norwalk River Rowing’s nine medals included three Gold medals in the Veteran Men’s 1x, the Men’s Jr. 4+ and Men’s Jr. Novice 4x; four Silver medals in Master Women’s 1x, Novice Jr. Men’s 1x, Women’s 1st Jr. 4+, Men’s Jr. 2x; and two Bronze medals in Master Men’s 4x and Novice Jr. Men’s 1x. 

Norwalk River Rowing Race Results:

- Don Loomis Gold Medal in the Veteran Men’s 1x   

- Juliet Brocki Silver in the Master Women’s 1x

- Tom Luz, Don Loomis, Ford Smith & Phil Negus Bronze in the Masters Men’s 4x

- T.D Molina Silver in Jr Novice 1x

- C. Krogh Bronze in Jr Novice 1x

- Charlie Cragin, Will Kauffman, Jack McDermott, and Tanner Polo Gold in the Mens Jr Novice 4x

- David Sullivan, Stefan Petreski, Martin Martensson, Joseph Blake and coxswain F. Hogan Gold in the Mens Jr 4+

- Madeleine Appuzzo, Julia Barr, Amanda Jenkins, Kylie O’Connor and cox Caroline Arnold taking the Silver in the Womens Jr  4+.

- James Koenigsberg and Chad Ballard Silver in the Mens Jr 2x
