Like to Join the Representative Town Meeting?

Would you like to become a member of the Darien Representative Town Meeting?

Districts 4 and 6 could use new members. Interviews will be arranged before the next RTM Meeting on Nov. 26 (the Monday after Thanksgiving).

"Anyone interested in joining the RTM can talk to our current members to get a sense of what’s involved,” said Brian Rayhill, chairman of the District 4 caucus. “Or they can tune in the town’s television station, TV79 to watch the RTM and its committees in action.

"Given the many issues facing our town … affordable housing, flooding, tight financial budgets … participating on the RTM is a great way to have your say."

If you aren't sure if you're in the district, check this street directory (also attached as a document to this announcement).

District 6

The Darien RTM is seeking three candidates to step forward for the available openings in District 6.

You're in District 6 if your polling place has been at Town Hall this year.

Interested residents who live in District 6 are invited to send a message to Janet Grogan, chairman of the district delegation, at janetgro@gmail.com.

District 4

District Four, which votes at Hindley School, has one open slot on the RTM and candidates are being sought for the position.

“We’re hoping that anyone interested in serving on the RTM will step forward,” Rayhill said.  “It is important our district is fully represented so we’re anxious to fill the vacancy.”

Along with Rayhill, District 4 members of the RTM are Jim Cameron, Maria Cleary, Joan Davis, Lucy Fiore, Frank Kemp, Jay Hardison, Phyllis Hawkins, Courtney Haidinger, Andy Millar, Susan Morrison, William Peters, Anita Rycenga, Sandy Savage and Carolyn Schoonmaker.

For District 4, those interested in applying should contact Rayhill at 655-1944 or by e-mail at brianrayhill@gmail.com

A caucus of existing RTM members from District 4 will be held on Nov. 26, 2012 at 7 pm at Town Hall. Each candidate will be interviewed individually and one will be selected by the caucus to fill the vacant seat.
