Darien YMCA Camp Registration Begins Tuesday, Feb. 5

Darien YMCA Summer Camp registration for children ages 3-15 begins this week.

2012 campers and siblings with Darien Y memberships can register beginning Tuesday, Feb. 5,  Darien Y members who are residents of Darien can register beginning Thursday, Feb. 7,  Darien Y members who are not residents of Darien can register Tuesday, Feb. 12, and open registration to all non-members begins Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The Darien Y offers a choice of camps, each with several sessions throughout the summer. The most widely known camps are the traditional full-day and half-day camps with activities including swimming at the Darien Y along with sailing/canoeing, sports, arts & crafts, music/dance, special events, cooking for pre-school children and field trips for elementary-age children and much more.

One of the many highlights of the camp are the skits that the campers perform for their parents at the end of the camp session.

Specialty camps are also offered at the Y.  The popular gymnastics camp will be held for the first time this summer at the Darien Y’s new state of the art 11,000 square foot gymnastics facility and is offered for all levels of gymnasts.

The Swim and Sail camp for children with special needs includes sailing, canoeing and kayaking on Holly Pond.   Children with special needs join this camp with their sibling or a friend.

Parent Information sessions about the Darien Y camps will be offered on Monday, Feb. 4 and Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. for the pre-school camp and 6:30 p.m. for the school age camp.
