The Darien YMCA officially reopened on Saturday, Sept. 15, after a $9 million renovation.
Rob Morrison WCBS-TV was the Master of Ceremonies at the ribbon cutting ceremony which was attended by Congressman, Jim Himes; First Selectman, Jayme Stevenson; State Representative, Terrie Wood; State Senators Bob Duff and Carlo Leone.
Executive Director of the YMCA, Pat Morrissey represented the Y at the ribbon cutting ceremony as well as Y Board of Director Members Phil Martzolf, Deb Goll, and Graham Foster.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, there was an afternoon packed with fun family activities including sailboat rides, face painting, bouncy house, pony rides, and much more.
The Y would like to publicly thank all the community support it received including donations from Darien Donut, Palmer's Market, Upper Crust Bakery & Cafe, Bai Brands and Get Healthy Vending.
A special thanks also goes out to Post 53 and the Noroton Fire Department for their participation in the event.
