About 175 visitors attended the Darien Historical Society’s Art Show last Friday to marvel at works by local and regional artists and to enjoy a festive night of food and wine that was prepared and generously donated by Sails American Grill in Rowayton.
The Art Show will hold its last open house reception on Friday, Sept. 28, with Wave Hill Breads, Darien Cheese Shop and others will be providing tasty treats for that evening. The show will close this coming Sunday, Sept. 30.
Several artists have agreed to consider a best offer for many of their works during the final days of the show to help the Historical Society in this important fund raising event.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to display terrific artwork and it is most gratifying that many of these artists are supportive of our fundraising goals,” said Executive Director Jack Gault.
Thirty percent of all sales will benefit the Historical Society’s educational programs and exhibitions.
All are welcome. Admission is free for this event and to the house museum as well. The art show and sale is called To the Table, with paintings, watercolors and photographs depicting the farm to table phenomenon and more. The open gallery reception this Friday begins at 6:00 pm and continues until 8:30 pm.
