Kensett, the first new home community to be built in Darien in a generation, has won National Association of Home Builders gold awards for Best Clubhouse Design and Best Attached Home Plan.
The community was also honored with silver awards for Neighborhood of the Year and Best Landscape Design. The awards were announced last week in Las Vegas at The Nationals, the nation's largest and most prestigious competition for new home design. The Nationals is sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders.
Kensett is planned for 62 homes, a clubhouse, pool and related amenities. The homes at Kensett range in size from 3,200 to 4,400 square feet plus optional finished lower levels, with starting prices ranging from $1.3 million to $1.65 million.
Bill McGuinness of Sun Homes and Bob Dale of Buckingham Partners have joined with Clarion Partners to develop Kensett, now rising on a 16-acre enclave framed by stone walls and mature trees.
The community features homes with traditional architecture, contemporary floor plans and a range of custom finishes, in addition to a four-acre preserve with walking trails and ponds and a maintenance-free landscape design.
Residents and their guests will also have exclusive use of an iconic New England-style Meeting House with a grand hall, a guest suite, a club room with a bar, grand piano and large fireplace. Also featured are a heated lap pool, a private soaking pool, a fire pit and a fully-equipped fitness center.
