Lecturer offers a Biblically-Based Perspective on Spiritual Healing
Darien – March 17, 2011 “Prayer can be a trusted and reliable means for bringing peace, healing, and freedom into one’s individual life,” according to Kevin Graunke, a Christian Science lecturer and spiritual healer. Graunke will give a public talk entitled “Christian Science Healing: Praying with Certainty”, on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 pm at the Darien Library.
“God’s divine law of grace and truth is, in fact, a principle – permanent, unchanging and universal, that anyone can apply again and again with certain results – just like a math equation,” Graunke says.
A study by the National Institutes of Health of 31,000 Americans found that more than half of them have prayed for their own health. However, the study did not explore whether prayer itself is a provable, consistent healing system. “You can pray effectively, discover answers and experience healing for yourself and others,” says Graunke. “There is a definitive law of good, and its divine source is God- the Supreme Being whom the Bible describes as “ our strength and power,” “the One who makes my way perfect.” (II Sam.22: 33)
Graunke’s talk will draw on ideas from the Bible and from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, a book that explains how to find health and healing through practical, spiritual means. He’ll also describe his own experience in learning to engage the full law and the power of God, of divine Truth and Love, in his own life.
A member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship and teacher of Christian Science, Graunke has seen firsthand the restorative power of prayer many times, both for himself and his family. This includes healings of severe food poisoning, a debilitating back condition, fear and anger after losing a job, relationship meltdowns and financial emergencies. In addition to his national speaking assignments, Graunke helps people find renewed health and lasting answers to problems in the Bible’s teachings, and through the practical system of healing found in Science and Health.
