New YWCA Mentoring for High School Girls

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is looking for Darien High school girls who are interested in participating in the YWCA Mentoring Program.

This program pairs an adult female volunteer with a high school girl for bi-monthly mentoring sessions throughout the school year and will begin September 17.

The YWCA Mentoring program is the first-ever woman to girl mentoring program in Darien.  The mission of the program is to help build young women’s self-esteem and to realize their full potential as they face the challenges and rewards of high school and beyond.

Adult mentors will be required to complete an application and attend training.  Mentoring sessions will each be themed, are bi-monthly, will run for 1 1/2 hours each, and will place at the YW office at 49 Old Kings Hwy. N. in Darien.

This program is supported by the CT Mentoring Partnership, part of the Governor’s Prevention Partnership designed to keep the state’s youth safe, successful and drug-free.  Darien High School girls can sign up for this program by emailing mentor@ywcadariennorwalk.org by Sept. 7.
