Sara Barbara Coudray Stauffer, 88, Longtime Darien Resident

Sara Barbara Coudray Stauffer, a long-time Darien resident, died peacefully at home Sunday, May 20. She was 88.

Born April 1, 1924 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Helene Weld and Col. Wyman F. Coudray.

Mrs. Stauffer is survived by her sister, Ann Uttaro, of Waltham, MA, her daughter, Nancy Cahoon, and her son, David, both of Darien, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James D. Stauffer.

Mrs. Stauffer was an active volunteer and member of many Darien organizations, including the DCA and Darien Book-Aid.  She was an avid bridge and tennis player. She also loved gardening and travel, which she and her husband did extensively.

Memorial services will be private. She will be interred at Spring Grove Cemetery. Edward Lawrence Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
