Tokeneke Fifth Graders Take Their Marks for Fitness
Students at Tokeneke School set off to run a timed mile, one part of a multi-skill check up on their physical fitness. This week, fifth graders have been assessed for flexibility, abdominal strength, arm strength and cardiovascular endurance as part of the Darien School Fitness Assessment.
Tokeneke physical education teacher Suzanne Stisser says fourth graders go through a similar set of skills for the CT Physical Fitness Assessment, and third graders at Tokeneke are currently preparing for these upcoming drills by training for a half-mile "Fun Run".
Darien families take their health and fitness seriously, and these in-school programs are augmented by the many extracurricular sports and school activities that aim to keep Darien kids moving, and healthy! Pictured are some of Mrs. Steur's fifth grade students, eager to break away from the pack!
