Bill Raveis, Chairman of , Mortgage, and Insurance, and Deirdre McGovern, Director of Business Development/Agent in the William Raveis Darien office presented Executive Director Ellen Kirby with a check for $30,000.
The money was given as part of the business's generous sponsorship of the YWCA’s fundraising events in 2012-2013.
These events include:
- the Newcomers Fall Party on Sept. 29,
- Cookies, Cocktails and a Cause on Dec. 6,
- Annual Dinner Dance Benefit in Spring 2012,
- YW Race on April 28,
- 4th Annual Women of Distinction Luncheon on May 16 and
- the 9th Annual Push N Pull Parade on July 4.
This generous donation demonstrates William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage and Insurance’s commitment to giving back. William Raveis’s local offices embrace causes that are relevant to their area through volunteering and/or donations.
Many of the William Raveis employees in Darien have ties to the YW, having served on the Board of Directors or been members of the Newcomers Club.
Bill Raveis spoke about the donation, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with the YWCA Darien/Norwalk to help women and girls in our community.”
Ellen Kirby enthusiastically expressed her appreciation for the firm’s demonstration of support and commitment to the programs at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk.
The YWCA Darien/Norwalk has programs for women and girls in the community in addition to activities for women including the Newcomers Club.
One of these programs is Parent Awareness which encourages the positive development of Darien youth by providing education to families.
A second program is Job Search Support which provides women with the skills and tools required to become employed and support their families.
In addition, the YW is launching two programs for girls this Fall; Girl2Girl, a program designed to create resilience and empower girls entering 6th and 9th grade and Mentoring for Girls, an adult female to Darien high school girl mentoring program.
