Darien Sail & Power Squadron Gearing Up for 18th Annual Boat Camp
Launches on Friday, July 25 from Noroton Yacht Club
Boat Camp 2014 is sponsored by the Darien Sail & Power Squadron, with significant help from the Noroton Yacht Club and Person-to-Person. This annual event introduces local underprivileged children to the beauty of Long Island Sound, utilizing the resources and good will of Squadron members and boating friends.
Now in its 18th year, more than 100 campers and counselors are expected to be out on the water thanks to the efforts of many volunteers from the boating community and the Squadron.

Volunteers may participate in several ways – as boat “Captains” (the Squadron needs powerboats over 18’ with at least a 6-person capacity), as onboard boat “Crew” (the Squadron needs at least one adult on board in addition to the Captain), or as onshore logistical support (the Squadron needs help in distributing supplies, making the kids feel comfortable when ‘jacketing-up’ on shore, and as ‘escorts’ in the first adventure of the day – getting the Campers down to the docks and on-board the fleet of boats that are awaiting them).
Is it fun? You bet. And for the kids? It’s a day to remember; actually being offshore, on their own boats.

The Squadron welcomes volunteers in any capacity. And if you cannot participate in Boat Camp 2014, there is always the opportunity to make a donation to the Person-to-Person Campership Program. (For more information, visit p2pHelps.org.)
If you are looking for something to do that is rewarding and fun, join the Darien Sail & Power Squadron on Friday, July 25 for Boat Camp 2014. It is truly a wonderful day, not just for the campers but for everyone who’s involved.
