The Darien High School Quiz Bowl B team on February 26th finished second at the annual Connecticut Invitational run by UConn and E. O. Smith High School in Storrs, Connecticut.
Quiz Bowl pits teams of students against each other as they compete to answer questions on a wide variety of academic topics, including history, literature and science. Team members need to be quick as well as smart to get the right answer before the opposing team.
Darien B, consisting of Will Brandon, Sarishka Desai, Michael Borecki, Sarah Lehan, and team captain Cameron Van de Graaf, posted a 9-2 record, losing in the finals to Acton-Boxborough A, placing 2nd overall out of 24 high school teams.
Darien A, consisting of Molly Bell, Brendan Berrigan, Jonathan Stimpson, Andrew Benz, and team captain Porter Bowman placed 6th. Darien C, consisting of James Johnson, Komal Dhull, Liz Borecki, and captain Claire Borecki also participated in the tournament.

The Darien A and B teams have qualified for the National Scholastic Championship, held in the Washington D.C. area this May.
Michael Borecki and Molly Bell were the 2nd and 3rd highest scorers in the tournament.
