Darien Paddle Tournament Supports Hope in Motion

The 6th annual Paddles with a Purpose event was held on Saturday, April 5th, at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, CT. Created to foster a competitive yet enjoyable event where players can come out, have fun and raise money for Stamford Hospital’s Bennett Cancer Center, this year’s event raised $7,800. 100% of the funds raised will support vital programs and services provided by the Bennett Cancer Center to patients and their families.

This year, 30 teams comprised of players from Fairfield and Westchester Counties came out to participate. Each year the competition is elevated with some of the top teams having nationally ranked participants, yet there is always a good mix for all abilities, with brackets for all skill levels.

A real camaraderie has developed among the players, most of whom come back year after year. This year’s winners were David Mueller and Mark Innes from Fairfield County’s Country Club of Darien, who prevailed over Victor Dias and Alex Dias of Westchester County. Over the past six years, the trophy has been shared equally between the counties.
