Darien YMCA Introduces a Triathlon Training Program

This summer the Darien YMCA is introducing TRI at the Y, a 9-week Triathlon training program for beginner and intermediate athletes.  Participants will be separated into two training groups, Beginner Athletes led by coaches Beverly Wagner and Melissa O'Brien and Intermediate Athletes led by Peter Laura.  The team of coaches is made up of a combination of certified spin instructors and personal trainers, all of whom have previous personal triathlon experience.

The TRI at the Y training program includes weekly tailored training schedules and coach emails and designated participant-only weekly group runs, spin class and access to Masters Swim.  The participants will also enjoy nutritional workshops and office-hours accessibility with a Sports Nutritionist, a Foam Rolling Workshop and Yoga for Athletes Workshop.  In addition, each participant will receive one complimentary massage at the Y and one "Living. Longer. Stronger." shirt for Race day.  Only the Beginner training group will participate in the Darien Y's first-ever Sprint Triathlon to be held on Saturday, September 14th but the Intermediate training group will be prepared for many local triathlons including the ITP Race in Darien on September 14th.

TRI at the Y begins on July 14th and is open to members for $400 and non-members for $500.  Registration opens in the Wellness Center July 1st for members and July 8th for non-members.  Both training groups are limited to the first 30 participants.  For more information visit the Darien YMCA website www.darien-YMCA.com or contact wellnesscenter@darien-ymca.org.
