Darien YMCA Summer Program Registration Begins June 3rd

Registration for the Darien YMCA’s summer programs begins Tuesday, June 3rd on a tiered schedule.  Priority registration for Y members who are currently enrolled in the spring session begins Tuesday, June 3rd at 10am.  Darien Y members who are residents of Darien can register beginning Thursday, June 5th at 10am, Darien Y members who are not residents of Darien can register Tuesday, June 10th at 10am, and open registration to all non-members begins Thursday, June 12th. The first summer session runs from June 16th to July 11th (4 weeks). The second summer session runs from July 14th to August 10th (4 weeks).  A brochure of the programs for this session is available on the Darien YMCA website, www.darien-ymca.org.

The Darien Y offers a variety of programs for youth and adults during the summer session.  The program offerings this summer for children include summer camp for pre-school and school age children, as well as gymnastics camp for school-age girls. There will be a Youth Sailing program which will teach basic boating techniques and safety on Holly Pond, and a Swim and Sail program for Special Needs.  Lifeguard training classes offered allow certifications and re-certifications in CPR/AED, Lifeguard training, and First Aid. Futsal (indoor soccer) for children in Kindergarten – 4th grade will take place in the Y’s air-conditioned gymnasium. Other programs offered this summer for children include classes on the rock climbing wall, a Teen Fitness series of yoga, zumba and spin classes for 9 to 18 year olds, as well as sports conditioning for athletes 12 and older looking to prepare for the fall sports season.

Adult classes offered that require registration include Pilates Reformer, Kettlebells, rock climbing wall, and adult swim classes. There are also classes for active older adults including Tai-Chi, Light n’ Easy, and Aqua Aerobics. There is no charge for members attending one of the Y's 100+ other fitness classes including Spin, Yoga, Pilates, TRX Bootcamp, Zumba, Sports Conditioning (for Adults) which are considered drop-in.
