Family Centers Honors Darien Resident for Volunteer Work

At its 122nd Annual Meeting on Oct. 22, Family Centers recognized a longtime Board Member with whose contributions were instrumental in its growth.

During his tenure on the Board of Directors, Darien resident Kip Koons’ guidance and thoughtful advice has been a driving force behind Family Centers’ continuous growth over the past 25 years.  An expert in the field of mergers and acquisitions, he has helped facilitate the six mergers that have made Family Centers the diverse and trusted community resource it is today.  Koons has also served on the agency’s nominating, finance /investment and various program committees, all while raising funds and awareness for Family Centers.

To thank him for his many contributions to the agency, Family Centers presented Koons with the 2013 Helen Gratz Rockefeller Outstanding Volunteerism Award.  The award is presented annually to a member of the Family Centers Board of Directors, and is the agency’s highest honor for volunteer work.

“Kip has been part of the bulwark that has kept our agency strong and growing for the past 25 years,” said Joan Jan Dilenschneider, a former Board Chairman and past recipient of the award.  “His careful scrutiny and attention to detail has led to the successful outcomes we have experienced.”
