Lung Association’s 5th Anniversary Fight for Air Climb in Stamford

Discounted registration rate expires on September 3.

On October 19, 300 expected climbers will take to the stairs of Trump Parc, located in the heart of downtown Stamford. The event will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year. Last year, 250 raced up 588 stairs to the building’s 34th floor raising more than $50,000 to directly benefit the American Lung Association of the Northeast. The event hopes to raise $68,000 in 2013.

“We are excited to celebrate our fifth anniversary in Stamford this year,” said Jeff Seyler, President & CEO of the American Lung Association of the Northeast. “Trump Parc has been such a great partner in the Fight for Air and we look forward to being able to bring this event to Stamford for many years to come. The funds raised at the Fight for Air Climb are vital to the work we are doing to combat lung disease and air pollution.”

Teams of firefighters are encouraged to participate in the Firefighter Challenge. Firefighters will race to the top of Trump Parc wearing full gear. The fastest team will walk away with the Fastest Firefighting Team trophy. This coveted award has gone to Stamford Fire Local 786 for the last four years. Fire departments throughout the region are encouraged to step up to the challenge.

For the past two years, Stamford Fire Local 786 has partnered with the American Lung Association to host a car wash at Domus Academy. Funds raised by the car wash allow several students from the school to climb the stairs on event day. This year, enough money was raised to qualify 10 kids to “Tackle Trump Parc” in October. Backyard Humanitarians, a local grassroots volunteer group, was there to lend a helping hand and will also take to the stairwell in support of the American Lung Association.
