MMS Yearbook Receives Highest Honor
Middlesex Middle School has been awarded the CSPA Gold Crown for its 2013 yearbook, Facts + Figures. The CSPA Gold Crown is the top award given to scholastic publications by The Columbia Scholastic Press Association. This year a total of 1,236 digital, newspapers, magazines and yearbooks published during the 2012-2013 academic year were eligible for judging in the 2014 Crown Awards Program. 41 yearbooks received Crowns, only 13 of which were Gold. MMS was the only school in the northeast to receive a prestigious Gold Crown award.
The Awards Convocation for Scholastic Crown recipients took place during the 90th Scholastic Convention, on March 21st at Columbia University in New York City. MMS 8th grade science teacher and yearbook advisor Liisa Petersen accepted the award on behalf of the MMS yearbook staff. MMS’ Herff Jones representative Kristina Skrela also attended the awards ceremony.
