Near & Far Aid Gives $20K to Person-to-Person for Emergency Assistance Program

Awards $20,000 Grant for the Emergency Assistance Program

Earlier this year, the Board of Directors of the Near & Far Aid Association voted to grant $20,000 to the Person-to-Person Emergency Assistance Program.

Person-to-Person Executive Director Ceci Maher notes that Near & Far Aid has contributed consistently to this program over the years. “This is a significant award, because the Emergency Assistance Program is at the core of our service offering,” says Maher, “providing food, clothing, financial assistance, crisis counseling and referrals to our clients."

When Near & Far Aid President Bitsy Higgins informed P2P about the grant, she noted that the award makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many men, women and children living in poverty. “We take great pride in the work we do and endeavor to draw greater attention to poverty in Fairfield County, which will result in better funding for programs that address this issue.”

According to Maher, although Fairfield County is one of the wealthiest in the nation there are people in the area who face significant financial challenges on a daily basis. “We are grateful for the continuing commitment and support of Near & Fair Aid, which enables us to extend our services to meet the need in Stamford, Norwalk, Darien, New Canaan, Weston, Westport and Wilton.”
