Norwalk River Rowers Medal in CT Championships

Over 40 youth from Norwalk River Rowing competed in the Connecticut Indoor Rowing Championships in Easton on Sunday, January 25.  This brutal two kilometer event is rowed on indoor rowing machines, and challenges individual rowers to achieve their personal best times on the machines.  Many of Norwalk River’s rowers turned in their personal best times, and three medaled in their events.  Liam McDonough took a silver and Norwalk resident Brian Helms took the bronze in the Boys Junior B (14-16) Lightweight category.  Norwalk resident Nicole Vacas took a silver in the Girls Junior B (14-16) Lightweight category.  In a good sign for the team for the spring racing season, eight boys (including McDonough and Helms) turned in times below 7:00 minutes.
