Opus for Person-to-Person today announced that its 2014 spring benefit, “Fiesta on the Sound,” will be held on Saturday, May 3, at the Wee Burn Beach Club in Rowayton.  The Cinco de Mayo-themed gala, which supports the Norwalk and Darien-based Person-to-Person, will serve up an elegant evening with south-of-the-border flair.

Sporting colorful semi-formal attire, guests will enjoy beachfront cocktails (margaritas, of course!), festive live music, golf contests, a raffle, dancing and both a live and silent auction.  Guests will have the opportunity to sample various premium tequilas and margaritas and will be served a gourmet Mexican-themed dinner.  Auction items will include luxury vacation getaways, VIP sports packages, spa indulgences and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Co-Chairs: Annie Allen, Jennifer Barbagallo, Kristina Gregory and Kat Sakara have been working closely with Board Liaison Caroline Gallagher and the Fiesta on the Sound committee to create a remarkable evening that will build on the successes of previous benefits.  Last year’s gala, dubbed “The Julep Ball,”* had a Kentucky Derby theme and raised nearly $125,000 for Person-to-Person.

“Each year, the Opus spring ball is a highly anticipated event and our biggest fundraiser. It brings a spirit of celebration and generosity,” said Renee Schwandt, Co-President of Opus for Person-to-Person. “We’re excited to announce Fiesta on the Sound, which is sure to be another successful benefit for Person-to-Person.”

Proceeds from Fiesta on the Sound will go to Person-to-Person’s Emergency Assistance Program, which is the core of their services. This program provides gently used clothing, groceries for nutritious meals and financial assistance for rent, security deposits and utility bills for approximately 23,000 individuals from neighboring communities.

Tickets to the fundraiser will go on sale in early March 2014.  Details on purchasing tickets and attending the event will be available on the Opus for Person-to-Person website: www.opus4p2p.org
