The DHS Boys Freshmen Soccer team dominated the first half of their game Wednesday afternoon on home turf against Stamford's Westhill High School.
Sam McMullin led the scoring for the Wave with a shot off of Westhill's goalie. Jack Richter followed up with a clean shot, putting the Wave ahead, 2-0. In goal for Darien, Dylan Jones made a couple of nice saves in an otherwise offensive-first half. Riley Stewart scored on an assist from McMullin, bringing the score to 3-0 at the half.
Westhill came out of the half in a more offensive mode, with Matt Meyjes making a half-dozen saves in goal for the Wave. McMullin scored his second goal of the game, on an assist from co-captain Tommy Kreuch, rounding out the Wave scoring, 4-0. The Vikings came back with their sole goal of the match, making the final score 4-1. Coach Brandon Neike's Wave Boys Freshmen team are 2-1 at the start of this season, playing in Fairfield Friday afternoon.
