Wings of Hope, 116 Butterflies Take Flight

116 butterflies will be released to Freedom on October 6 (Domestic Violence Awareness Month) at the Darien Nature Center.  The event which will begin at 1:30 PM is sponsored by the Darien Domestic Abuse Partnership,  each butterfly representing a domestic violence call received by the Darien Police Department over the past year.  The public is invited to attend and refreshments will be served.  Proclamations will be read by Rep. Terrie Wood and Sen. Bob Duff.
The Darien Domestic Abuse Partnership which works in conjunction with the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (serving families in the towns of Darien,  New Canaan, Westport, Norwalk, Stamford,  Wilton and Weston),  is committed to protecting and promoting the fundamental rights of all individuals to be safe in their personal relationships.  The Domestic Violence Crisis Center has a professional staff and offers confidential services at no charge.  Services include court and legal services, counseling and safe houses.
The DVCC is on call 24 hours a day through their 24-HOUR HOTLINE NUMBER,  888-774-2900, and their website www.dvcc.org.  Members of the community may contribute $20 to sponsor a butterfly.  These tickets will be on sale at area grocery stores,  the Darien YWCA and Room 109 at the Darien Town Hall.
