YWCA Darien/Norwalk Upcoming Programs

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is located at 49 Old Kings Highway North and offers a variety of programs for women in lower Fairfield County. It is dedicated to giving women the support and tools they need to transform their lives, be confident in their choices and raise healthy families. Job Search Support Program for Women

This program is designed to support women in all aspects of the job search process and offers computer classes in Microsoft applications and keyboarding, one-on-one resume writing assistance, and individual job search strategy and coaching with an individualized approach. Computer Classes:

Intermediate Excel, three 2-hour classes on Wednesdays from 10 am to noon or 6-8pm. Class meets on March 26, April 2, and April 9.

Intermediate Word, three 2-hour classes on Thursdays from 10 am to noon or 6-8pm. Class     meets March 27, April 3, and April 10.

Keyboarding, three 1-hour classes. Tuesdays from 1-2 pm on March 11, 18, and 25; or on Thursdays from 5-6pm on March 13, 20, and 27.

 

Take Mom to Yoga

An evening yoga class for moms and kids of elementary school age held in the YWCA Dance Studio.

Yoga instructor Talita Moss has created a unique program where moms and kids bond over learning yoga poses and body awareness. This class is an opportunity to have quality time with your child in a relaxing environment. Classes take place on Wednesdays, from 6:30-7:30pm. Registration is ongoing. Painting Exploration Watercolor, Acrylic and Oil for Adults

Professional artist Wendy MacCordy will inspire the artist in you whether you are just starting out or have been painting for a while. Participants can choose their favorite paint medium or experiment with a new one. This class is for all levels of ability. Some materials are provided. Canvases are additional but available for purchase. Classes are on Wednesdays from 10am-noon.

Children’s Painting Workshop, Spring Break/Vacation Week

Children, ages 5 through 12, will learn painting technique, color use and composition. Class runs from April 14-18, from 9:30-noon. Participants can choose any number of days, and should bring a nut-free snack. Cost is $50 per day and registration is required. Payment is non-refundable; space is limited.

 

 

Toddler Enrichment Programs

2-hour drop-off programs consisting of free-play, story and music time, an art project and snack in a classroom setting. Children will learn new songs, create fun works of art and make lots of new friends in a class of up to eight students. Two enthusiastic and caring teachers lead the classes. Families can enroll their toddlers for 1, 2, or 3 days per week. Open to the public but space is limited. See website for details.

Toddler Time: Begins in September 2014 and meets for a full school year until May 2015. To be eligible, children must turn 2 between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

Summer Fun: Begins in May 2014 and meets for 10 weeks. To be eligible, children must turn 2 before the start of the program.
