Turn in 'Gently Used' Coats to the Cops

Get rid of your old coats and jackets (if they're clean and not too worn), at the Darien Police Department between Sunday, Nov. 27, and Saturday, Dec. 3, and help somebody else.

The Darien Police Association is collecting clean, "gently used" coats and jackets to help our neighbors in the area through the cold winter.

The outerwear will be passed on to the Darien Chapter of . "Coats of all shapes and sizes are welcome, although children’s coats are in high demand this season," the association said in a news release. "This program is an easy way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets that you no longer need."

You can bring used coats and jackets to the Lobby at 25 Hecker Ave. Darien (see map attached to this article), from Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 (Sunday to Saturday). "A drop box will be located in the lobby which is open 24 hrs a day.  All coats donated will be given to Person-to-Person for distribution to local people in need," according to the association. "All donations will help Person-To-Person meet the growing need for these items for the upcoming winter season.  We hope that you'll take the time to donate items that you and your family won't be wearing again.
