The YWCA of Darien/Norwalk has announced the appointment of Julie Forsyth as the organization's interim executive director.

Here's the announcement on the YWCA website:

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is pleased to announce the appointment of Julie Forsyth as its Interim Executive Director.  Ms. Forsyth replaces former Executive Director Ellen Kirby, who has decided to pursue other opportunities.

Ms. Forsyth, an active YWCA member since moving to Darien in 2009, has served on its Board of Directors since 2011 and as President of the Board since July 2012.

"I am delighted that Julie has accepted the offer to serve as our Interim Executive Director.  Her experience as the President of the Board, combined with her extensive professional expertise and her passion for the organization will be invaluable during this transitional period,"  said Deborah Papaeconomou, Interim President of the Board, YWCA Darien/Norwalk.

In addition to her work with the YWCA, Ms. Forsyth has been an active community volunteer, most notably with Person2Person and the Royle School Kids Care Club.

She comes to the position with over twenty years of business experience, including traditional retailing management, strategic planning, product development, marketing and e-commerce – most recently working in London as Global Strategic Director of Online for Burberry.

Ms. Forsyth received her MBA from Boston University and her BA from Harvard College.  She lives in Darien with her husband, Matthew, and their two children.

The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
