Catch Bestselling Author of 'Little Bee' at DL

Chris Cleave, author of the novel Little Bee, will appear at the Darien Library Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., as part of the Spring Author Series.

Published in the United States last February, Chris Cleave's incandescent novel was an instant favorite with readers (including DL visitors), a New York Times bestseller, and booksellers and critics alike.

Little Bee tells the story of a young Nigerian girl, Little Bee, a refugee from the internecine tribal oil wars of her country, who has fled to England in order to survive. Cleave deftly combines humor with pathos in this timely tale of friendship, national identity, responsibility, grief, and redemption. With this entertaining, poignant, and thought-provoking novel, Chris Cleave has crafted a story about many things, both large and small: the plight of refugees, the quiet violence of selfishness, the last vestiges of hope in a grueling world, and the dilemma of being human.

A book signing will follow the presentation. Books will be available for purchase and refreshments served.
