Weekend One Acts at Darien Library

Darien Library is proud to present for the second time Weekend One-Acts, a theatrical weekend featuring free performances of one-act plays from two esteemed American playwrights. The program of two works includes a one-act play from the 1970s (Tennessee Williams), and one from the 1990s (David Ives). There will be an evening performance with opening reception on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m., and a matinee performance on Sunday, October 16 at 2 p.m.

I Can't Imagine Tomorrow by Tennessee Williams

Directed by Robert Cusack

“I Can’t Imagine Tomorrow” is a two-character play about a lonely and ill spinster being courted by a pathologically shy teacher. Their confrontation, sometimes gentle, sometimes tense, becomes a revealing and moving emotional experience as they accept the need to face alone the terrors that might be more easily met together.

Variations On the Death of Trotsky

Directed by Donna McLaughlin Wyant

This play fictionalizes the day of the death of Trotsky, divided into eight scene variations in which Trotsky dies at the end of every scene progressing the story a bit further each time.

Weekend One-Acts cast members are Gary Betsworth*, Robert Cusack, Bridget Cusack*, Virgil de la Cruz, and Kathleen Sauer.

Doors open 1/2 hour prior to performance time. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-serve basis. We cannot accommodate reservations. Latecomers cannot be admitted.
