Weekend Calendar, Sept. 23-25: Rembrandts, Prix Fixe, and a Petting Zoo

A roundup of some of the best weekend events across the area.

Whether you're looking for a cheap, delicious meal or an opportunity to check out rarely-seen Rembrandts, we've got you covered:

  • Where: Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University, 1073 N Benson Rd., Fairfield
  • When: Friday, Sept. 23 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Why go: Laugh along with Alexandra McHale and Friend. As an added benefit, all proceeds will benefit the Special Olympics of CT.
  • Price: $20 per person.

  • Where: , 13 Oenoke Rdg., New Canaan
  • When: Friday, Sept. 23 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 24 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Why go: Savor some of the last fruits of summer at the Rotary Club's 26th annual Lobsterfest. You can enjoy the wonders of butter sauce and shellfish under a tent or take your lobster to go.
  • Price: $30 will get you a Maine lobster, corn on the cob, a fresh roll, cole slaw, soda, and fruit or homemade baked goods for desert. Chicken dinners and a kids' hot dog meal are also available. 

  • Where: , 144 Oenoke Ridge Rd., New Canaan
  • When: Saturday, Sept. 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Why go: Learn about traditional methods of making apple cider and see antique cider press demonstrations. Attendees also have the opportunity to explore the trails, make homemade butter, bake apples over the fire, and make harvest-themed crafts. There's even a pumpkin scavenger hunt to boot.  
  • Price: $15 per family from non-members; $10 per family for members.
  • Where: Bruce Museum, 1 Museum Dr., Greenwich
  • When: Saturday, September 24 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Sunday, September 25 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
  • Why go: See a master, his students, and his inspirations. This new exhibit features ten works by Rembrandt and more than fifty drawings by his pupils and followers.
  • Price: $7 for adults, $6 for students (5-22 with a valid ID) and seniors. Children under 5 are free.  
  • Where: , 39 Scofieldtown Rd., Stamford
  • When: Sunday, September 25 from 3:30 to 4:00 pm
  • Why go: Get to know the Stamford Museum's cuddliest creatures at the weekly petting zoo. 
  • Price: Free with museum admission, which is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $6 for students, and $5 for members. 
  • Where: Restaurants throughout South Norwalk, including Bacchus, , , , , , , , , Red Lulu, , and 
  • When: Sunday, Sept. 25 to Friday, Sept. 30
  • Why go: Enjoy Norwalk's best dining options at a great price. Our recommendations include Coromandel for delightfully authentic Indian and The Ginger Man for great beer.
  • Price: Lunches cost $9.99, dinners run between $19.99 and $29.99 a person.
