You don't have to step inside to find a bargain downtown now that Darien Sidewalk Sales Days are here.
Dozens of local merchants are offering discounted items at sidewalk stalls where you can get a quick, easy look--it's one way to check out a lot of stores at once, and there are quite a few new stores in town.
Debbie Seaman, shown here with her colorful tunics, beach bags, dresses, Capri pants and palazzos (wide-legged pants), has a booth near the Darien Playhouse (she'll be there till 5 p.m.).
"I fell in love with tropical fishes when swimming in the Great Barrier Reef," the New Canaan resident said. Her designs all copy tropical fish patterns. For Sidewalk Sale Days prices are $15 apiece or $12 if you buy more than one.
Her business, Bar Reef Designs, doesn't have a storefront, but you can find her creations at BarrierReefDesigns.com.
Darien Chamber of Commerce Director Carol Wilder-Tamme said stores will mostly be operating outdoor tables from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but many will stay open late for strong, interested crowds.
