The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services on Thursday issued this news release on a new telephone tax-filing option for businesses in the state:

Department of Revenue Services (DRS) Commissioner Kevin B. Sullivan today [Thursday] announced a toll-free filing option for some business taxpayers.

The new number will give small businesses without computer access a free way to meet the new electronic filing and payment requirement for some business taxes.

Said Commissioner Sullivan, “While DRS has embraced the Internet and electronic filing technologies, we know that not everyone has dipped their toes into the ocean of cyberspace. For new users, it can seem pretty scary.

“So, even though we can’t be certain every business has a computer, or is comfortable filing over the Internet, we know they all have a telephone. Giving these small business taxpayers a secure, free way of filing these taxes is the least we can do.”

Taxpayers can use the toll-free number to file the following business tax returns:

Form CT-WH Withholding Tax Payment Form

Form CT-941 Connecticut Quarterly Reconciliation of Withholding

Form OS-114 Sales and Use Tax Return

Form OP-210 Room Occupancy Tax Return

To file these returns, taxpayers can call (855) 665-9471 from outside the Greater Hartford calling area.  Taxpayers located within the Greater Hartford area should call (860)289-4829.
