Darien SideWalk Sales & Family Fun Days Kicks Off Thursday

If you're looking for a place to shop till you drop in Darien, here's some good news for you: You'll pretty much be able to do that all over town this week when the Darien SideWalk Sales and Family Fun Days 2013 kicks off on Thursday.   

Running Thursday though Saturday, a host of stores across town are participating in the Darien Chamber of Commerce's annual event, roughly 25 years strong, according to Carol Wilder-Tamme of the Chamber.

The Chamber is also launching a new interactive town app, downloadable at DarienCTChamber.us, in conjunction with this year's event. It's functional on all smart phones, iOS and Android alike, and features highlights of restaurants, stores and sales around town and maps with how to arrive at those destinations.

Wilder-Tamme said stores will mostly be operating outdoor tables from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but many will stay open late for strong, interested crowds.

Parking is available all over town, with lots available behind Helen Ainson at 1078 Boston Post Road, the public lot on Corbin Drive off Post Road, behind the Darien Sports Shop at 1127 Boston Post Road, at the post office and behind First County Bank, which has been the SideWalk Sales title sponsor for more than 5 years now.
