Darien Summer Concert Series Back For 2010
The program will feature music and movies at Weed Beach and Tilley Pond.
The Darien Summer Nights Concert Series—the popular program of musical performances and film screenings that began last year—is back for 2010.
Darienites will have five opportunities for free entertainment over July and August at two of the town's favored outdoor locations: Tilley Pond Park and Weed Beach Park.
The Weed Beach events (July 11, July 25, and August 8) will feature music exclusively, while the performances at Tilley Pond (July 17 and August 14) will be followed by film screenings.

Performances at Weed Beach—which include guitarist John Cain, singer/songwriter Doug Allen, and Leslie Costa & The Usual Suspects—are open to Darien residents with beach permits. Food and coolers are both allowed.
Allen and Costa will appear on separate occasions at Tilley Pond, followed by screenings of The Blind Side (2009) and Barefoot in the Park (1967), respectively. Parking will be available in the Koons lot across the way, and food will also be permitted.

The series, partly inspired by Byrant Park Summer Movies in Manhattan, was launched in 2009 by developers David Genovese and Penny Glassmeyer.
Genovese's Baywater Properties owns many of the buildings along Post Road in downtown Darien, while Glassmeyer has developed numerous properties around town, including Grove Street Plaza. This year's event enjoys the support of the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
