Goldenberry Moving from Darien to New Canaan

A popular specialty gift shop that specializes in English dinnerware and treats is moving from Darien to New Canaan.

Goldenberry will occupy the space at 149 Cherry Street (at the corner of Vitti) with a move planned for some time in the next two months, said Deb Hecht, one of the Post Road store’s owners.

“We are coming to New Canaan after being in Darien for almost 15 years, so it’s a very exciting change and it’s always interesting to have a new opportunity, a new horizon,” she said.

“It’s a beautiful space, light and bright,” she added.

Goldenberry has been in Darien for about 15 years, Hecht said, and the shop draws customers from several Fairfield and Westchester County towns, including Greenwich, Westport, Weston, Ridgefield and Rye, NY.

“Our sort of ‘sub line’ is ‘Home, child, gift and gourmet,’ ” she told Patch.

Especially exciting is the prospect of opening the New Canaan shop in time for the July coronation and expected birth of the royal baby, Hecht said.
