Live Music, Dinner & Drinks: Blu Parrot Opens in Westport Tonight

Located across from the Sauatuck Train Station and next to Mario Batali's Tarry Lodge, the 3,500 square-foot building at 60 Charles St. will feature live music five nights a week.

The Blu Parrot will open its doors .

The owners, Westport resident Adam Lubarsky, partner Perry Cantor, and partner and chef Steve Alward, are excited to fulfill a need that they said is absent in Westport.

“There are places to listen to music, which might not focus on food. There are places that serve food that might not have a focus on music. We are a great balance of the two,” Cantor said.

Cantor said the Blu Parrot keeps with the roots of this area with regards to the venue’s theme around art. The walls are decorated with various colorful works of art done by local artists.

“What we want to try to convey is art that you can see, art that you can hear and art that you can taste,” Cantor said.

Cantor expects people to travel from New York, Stamford, New Haven and Danbury to enjoy an evening out at the restaurant, which will employ about 35 people.

“It’s a larger venue, and from a practical standpoint, we have no shortage of parking,” said Cantor, who has done business in Westport for more than 35 years.

Live music will be featured Wednesday thru Sunday. A Jazz brunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and a Gospel Brunch will be held on Sundays.
