National Doughnut Day Has Arrived

Friday, June 1, is National Doughnut Day and Dunkin Donuts in Darien is offering a sweet deal. Know of another shop offering deals today? Tell us in the comments.

What a way to start the weekend. The first Friday in June is National Doughnut Day and Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme are offering deals in honor of the momentous occasion.

Participating Dunkin’ Donuts shops nationwide will offer guests a free donut of their choice, while supplies last, with the purchase of any beverage, according to an announcement on the Dunkin' Donuts website.

I (Jaimie Cura) have been obsessed with the star-shaped black cocoa doughnut that was created in honor of the newest "Men in Black" movie. There's brownie batter in it. You read that right. Brownie. Batter.

Darien's is participating in National Doughnut Day (every Dunkin' Donuts is).

Although there are no Krispy Kreme shops in Middlebury or Woodbury, they too are participating in National Doughnut Day, according to the Krispy Kreme website.

Folks can go to Krispy Kreme for a free doughnut of their choice, no purchase necessary. But the nearest Krispy Kreme appears to be in Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan. You could also drive over to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut for your free doughnut. Financially, this is not likely to be in your best interest, although if you happen to be in the area—now you know.
