The Darien Technology and Community Fund gets groovy.

The Darien Technology and Community Foundation held its fall fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Darien Community Association's Meadowlands mansion. Dozens of DTCF directors, members, friends and supporters relived the nostalgia of the swingin' 60s at the British Invasion Party, a night of far out fashion statements, pub grub and rock 'n roll.

Once called the Darien Technology Foundation, the DTCF Board of Directors voted in 2007 to include community capital projects as a means to expand their grant funding. Events like these help the DTCF further expand its mission: to fund capital projects and increase the financial resources for technology in the Darien community.

To date, the foundation has awarded over $1.4 million dollars in grants to the Darien Public Schools, the Darien Library, the Senior Activities Center, the Depot, the three Darien Fire Departments, the Police Boat fundraiser, the Darien Historical Society and the Darien EMS Post 53.

This year, the DTCF funded the AirLiner Slate program in the elementary schools and awarded $25,000 to Person-to-Person, to remodel their reception area and private waiting rooms.

Pretty groovy.
