Readers' Choice: Best Burgers in Darien

Tell us what you love about your favorite burger in Darien (hamburger or cheeseburger) and help us crown a winner in the all-important "Favorite Burger" category!

The best burger in town—everyone has an opinion on it, so we’re thinking this week’s Readers’ Choice contest in Darien is sure to generate a lot of great discussion on Patch.

Based on what you tell us, we’ll declare our 2012 Readers’ Choice winner in the category at 12 p.m. Friday. What's extra-cool about this week's contest is that the Darien winner will be invited to participate in a Best Burger in CT contest that will run later this summer!

Please remember our contest rules (attached as PDF) and note especially that telling us why you love your favorite burger (juiciness, presentation, toppings, atmosphere, staff?) by posting a rating and review on its directory listing (just click on the link below) is even more important in determining a winner than casting a poll vote.

Darien’s restaurant scene is bustling, and in the realm of burgers we’ve got newer eateries such as and joining such venerable standbys as (with it's $14 Angus beef burger) and, at the other end of town, (with it's $2.39 small hamburger).

Don’t see your favorite burger spot listed? Tell us in the comments below. And if you’re a business owner who hasn’t , do it now!

Wasting no more time, here’s our list, please click on the listing to post a rating for Readers’ Choice:

Phil's grill is it for me...freish, .juicy, great flavor, great bun....little swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms and onions....service is always friendly...hands down the best in town!
Donna June 05, 2012 at 09:59 PM
No comparison - Phil's Grill by a wide margin.....Fresh buns compared to toast? No brainer. And its 100% pure angus beef - and you cant get better than that !!!! Plus you can sit outside - its definitely the top of the leader board.
food4mood June 06, 2012 at 12:25 AM
you know whats better than 100% angus purchased at restaurant depot? pure hand cut prime chuck and porterhouse tails from master purveyors served by burgers, shakes & fries.
Dunn Glenbar June 06, 2012 at 01:19 AM
Burgers Shakes and Fries should add Ineptitude to their title.
food4mood June 06, 2012 at 01:46 AM
best burger, nicest staff, best parking scenario in darien, if that makes burgers, shakes & fries inept than i guess you are right! what a clown.
Suz Gale June 06, 2012 at 11:53 AM

I missed the voting, but still want to weigh in. My favorite burger is from Phil's Grill. Food and service are great. My second favorite, The Lumberyard in Georgetown (Redding), Ct. Now I really want a burger!

same as Phils Grill, i was there for dinner and the owner was hanging out with his waitstaff while my food was on the warming table for 20minutes before it made its way to my table.

Remember, everybody—the total number of NEW reviews & ratings on the directory page of the restaurant count for as much as the total number of votes, and if it's still tied after that, we look at comments on this page. There's about 23 hours to go until the contest ends at 9 a.m. Friday.

Chris June 08, 2012 at 12:12 AM
In my opinion Phil's is the best Burger you find in darien. I love the burger with the fried egg and bacon mmmmm so good!
John K June 08, 2012 at 12:39 AM
Lets stop the madness, are you kidding Phil's by a wide margin. they pick there buns up everyday at darien doughnut now thats fresh! the burgers are out standing. you are right Nick, cooked on a open flame right in front of you not hiding a thing. Ask the owner and he will let you tour the kitchen.
Sam G June 08, 2012 at 12:43 AM

Bud June 08, 2012 at 09:39 AM
Boy thats interesting, as of 10pm last night Bsf had only 259 votes. What happen? O people stood up all night and voted what a sham!
Bud d June 08, 2012 at 10:17 AM
well Elwood, looks like Phil's is the only one that received real votes!
Christina A. June 08, 2012 at 08:36 PM
Totally agree with Bud, if the voting had been limited to 1 per ip address, Phil's Grill would have been the winner.
Drewcifur June 08, 2012 at 11:12 PM
BSF FTW! It's no wonder BSF won by a landslide! Their burgers are the best!
