Catching the Train This Weekend: StopTips Has Real Time Updates

Metro-North service continues to be extremely limited with the number of New Haven Line commuters having dropped to half. However, frustrated passengers don't need to stand on the platform for hours wondering when or if the next train will actually arrive.

While printed schedules have been rendered obsolete during the outage, Digital Transit Company StopTips has an up-to-the-minute solution. StopTips receives real time information directly from the MTA, which is streamed to screens in cafes and waiting areas in over 20 train stations from Larchmont to Stratford. Delays, updates, and outage maps can also be found on Facebook. Live updates for select stations will be posted on Twitter @StopTips over the weekend and the coming weeks as delays continue.

"StopTips can't change the fact that there is intermittent service and that there are long delays. What we can do is surround the commuter with accurate information at the one place you need it most — at the station and in the surrounding coffee shops," said StopTips Founder Charles Marrelli. "This leads to a more comfortable commute, where, instead of standing on the platform craning your neck — you can have a cup of joe and just glance up at the board...like at an airport."

To find out when your next train will depart from the Darien Station, visit your local StopTips screen in Darien Doughnut. While you are waiting, StopTips will entertain you with hyper local news and tips about the area, weather, and more.
